Hello, my dear, spooky colleagues & parents!
This short post will share some ideas on how you can use the Halloween Halloween Storytelling + STEAM – Scary Things by Rod Campbell (pre-k and 1st grade) lesson plan in your classroom or home to celebrate Halloween, do some STEAM, and read a new book!
The lesson plan is research-based, following the Theme-Based Instruction and the innovative CLIL methodology.
This plan does not contain the curriculum core alignment and objectives.
This lesson plan is made for non-native English speakers, 1st grade of Elementary school. It can also be used in pre-k with native English speakers.
The lesson plan includes:
- Language objectives;
- Content objectives;
- Language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing);
- Lesson materials;
- Academic resources;
- Lesson plan;
- Attachments.
Instructional delivery consists of the following segments:
- Warm-up;
- Presentation;
- Practice;
- Application;
- Assessment;
- Follow-up.
Some of the activities include:
- Practicing sounds;
- Learning about animal habitats from the book;
- Edible STEAM project;
- Pre-listening tasks;
- Graph;
- Singing;
- Dramatization and much more…
The lesson plan is fun, engaging, and it is supposed to also be used to learn about animal habitats and vocabulary to describe people’s appearances.
