Hello, my dear, spooky colleagues & parents!
This short post will share some ideas on how you can use the Halloween let’s make wicked sentences – word order- cut and stick worksheets in your classroom or home to promote early literacy!

Why is word order important?

Word order in English is important because it can change the spirit, meaning, or fluency of a sentence. Basically, it’s considered an SVO language, like such Romance languages as Spanish, French, Italian, and Romanian, meaning that generally, sentences follow the Subject-Verb-Object pattern.

  2. Hide the words and play a game where children have to find the words;
  3. Identify word forms (adjectives, verbs, nouns, pronouns, etc.);
  4. Play with word formation and make new words;
  5. Spell out the words;
  6. Make antonyms and create opposite sentences;
  7. Change tenses;
  8. Make your own cut and paste word formation game!

PLEASE DO NOT PRINT THE FIRST PAGES OF THE WORKSHEETS

TRY TO USE DRY ERASE POCKETS SO THAT YOU DONโ€™T WASTE PAPER AND THAT YOU CAN REUSE THE MATERIALS AGAIN.
